IPL 2020 Postponed, for not certain time period-BCCI
IPL 2020 is most probably going to be postponed for the indefinite time period because of novel coronavirus pandemic. the tournament supposed to start from 29 March to 24 May but now BCCI has no plans for it.
Yesterday, On Tuesday BCCI held a meeting where some of the senior Members of BCCI like Saurav Ganguly (president), Jai Shah (secretary) and Brijesh Patel(IPL Chairman) and apart from them Arun Dhumal (Treasurer) and Hemang Amin (IPL chief operating officer) was also the part of this meeting and all of them had some words on the scheduling of Indian Premier League 2020.
According, to the espncricinfo, Board will have a meeting with IPL governing council this week and then they will announce their decision. It is the second time when BCCI needs to postpone this league.
Last time when the Indian government has announced the lockdown for 3 weeks, so BCCI had postponed the tournament till 14 April.
They wanted to organize the tournament with the changing format, without foreign players, each team would play their 50% matches, only a few cities would get the chance to organize the matches if it would be the case then it would be like a shock for the foreign players, because until the league starts none of the players gets their payment.
In December, a total 62 foreign players were purchased by the 8 franchise in IPL 2020 Auction. Pat Cummins from Australia became the most expensive foreign player of all time.
Kolkata Knight rider took him for the 15.5 crore RS. Until the tournament won’t get started any overseas players or domestic players will get their cheques. According to the standards, franchise use to pay the players their payment in two installments.
The first installment they made before one week of starting the tournament and 2nd is after ending the season. Earlier, the Indian Government put the restriction on to the foreign traveler to come in India under new visa rules. After that, by following the rules Delhi government also took the decision to ban all the sports events. Not only this, In fact Along with Maharashtra many other states raise the question regarding league matches.

After the lockdown, Till the 3rd May BCCI has to find some other dates or windows for the t20 league. In India, it rains from June to September, UAE T20 Aisa cup also has to be played in September.
Asia cup t20 can also be postponed. After that, one of the biggest events has to be played which is the ICC t20 world cup which will be held from 18th October, after all these events teams have to play their regular series, according to the time table.
According to the BCCI source, if IPL got canceled this year then there would be loss near about 3000 crore rupees, earlier the member of BCCI “Saurav Gangly said at the moment we can not think on this.”
Now it is uncertain to say when the IPL 2020 will get start and how long their fans have to wait for their favorite league
